Academic Readiness Past Projects

Centers for Teaching and Learning Project (CTL)

During the 2013-2014 school year, GNYC provided funding for distinct projects led by CUNY Centers for Teaching and Learning (CTLs) at three community colleges to bring college faculty and local high school teachers together in teams to work on college transition projects. The projects sought to help campuses bridge the transition between NYC DOE public high schools and CUNY colleges by building an understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices at the high school and college levels.

Curriculum Alignment Project

The first iteration of GNYC’s efforts to collectively engage high school teachers and college faculty, the Curriculum Alignment Project brought together approximately 25 educators to develop curricular units in literacy and math that aligned with the Common Core State Standards and were progressive through high school, developmental education, and introductory college-level courses.
